Social Media

My current job is in content creation and social media for the firm Alexander’s. I do blogging for our firm as well as for my client, and then share the content to social media channels.

I post to all of them daily, focusing on content our audience would be interested in. For our remodeler client, this is baby boomers, empty nesters and “just-get-it-done-for-me-ers,” or those who don’t have the time or expertise to do it themselves. I focus posts on content they would be intrigued by: home improvement, health care, home life, retirement and the likes.

Numbers have been growing for my client, Remodeling Made Easy, since I began working at Alexander’s in February 2014.  They started at 889 total followers over all their channels, and have now more than tripled, at 2,797 as of January 2015. This growth has been because of giveaways, Facebook ads, Dealicious campaigns and good old-fashioned sharing.

I use Sprout Social as the publishing program for all of Remodeling Made Easy’s channels, use Klout for research and NUVI for sentiment monitoring. Oh, and this is slightly unrelated, but if you’re itching to know, my Klout score is a not-too-shabby 64.

In addition to growing followings and engagement, I’ve also learned the intricacies of the different channels: location verification for Google+ (which is a huge headache for 3 different brands in the same location), Twitter tribe chats, LinkedIn groups, Instagram meets and the ever evolving Pinterest trends.

In addition to this client, I also co-manage the social media presence for the rock n’ roll band I’m in, Red Yeti.

We operate through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, and have gained a good following for ourselves. Facebook is our most used and busiest channel, as it is easy for interacting in various ways with our followers.

We have been sharing content for two and a half years, doing promotions, giveaways and even once we went as far as to have fans vote for, “the sexiest yeti,” which ended up being one of our highest-reaching series of posts that we’ve ever done.

I personally use Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Imgur, Reddit, YouTube, Google+, PinkBike (I’m an avid mountain biker), Yik Yak and… somewhat shamefully, Tinder.

IMG_4119IMG_4251 Okay, not that shamefully. My Tinder usage is actually a guerrilla marketing tactic: I made a Tinder account for the whole band and swipe right to everyone who comes up in our area, and when we get a match, I send them a message saying something like, “We’re a local band, you should check us out and come to our shows!” It sounds crazy, but it’s actually worked. At our last show, we had around 10 or 15 people (well, girls) come to out to see us from Tinder.

See more about the business side of the band on my entrepreneurship tab.

Also, feel free to stalk my social media channels and even add me on LinkedIn or follow me on Twitter.
